# Karate BDD Framework Integration

> Generate, edit, and execute Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) Karate tests directly within Quixa.

For teams standardizing on Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), Quixa features deep native integration with the industry-standard [Karate DSL](https://docs.karatelabs.io/).

***

## 1. Dual-Engine Test Architecture

When generating tests or inspecting endpoints, Quixa provides a dual-engine selector:

* **Quixa Visual Flow Engine**: Renders interactive, visual DAG nodes on the canvas.
* **Karate BDD Engine**: Generates clean, human-readable Gherkin feature files (`.feature`).

Both engines coexist seamlessly in your project, allowing visual designers and code-centric automation engineers to collaborate on the same collections.

***

## 2. Gherkin Feature Generation

Quixa's AI compiles OpenAPI contracts into clean Karate BDD scenarios:

```cucumber theme={null}
Feature: User Account Lifecycle API
  Background:
    * url baseUrl
    * def authHeader = call read('classpath:auth-token.js')
  Scenario: Create new verified account successfully
    Given path '/api/v1/users'
    And headers { Authorization: '#(authHeader)', Content-Type: 'application/json' }
    And request { name: 'Alice Smith', email: 'alice@example.com', role: 'Developer' }
    When method post
    Then status 201
    And match response.id == '#uuid'
    And match response.email == 'alice@example.com'
    And match response.createdAt == '#present'
```

## 3. Visual BDD Console & Real-Time Execution

* **Inline Monaco Feature Editor**: Edit assertions, adjust payload fixtures, and add custom JavaScript helper functions directly in the UI.
* **Live ANSI Terminal Logs**: Run Karate tests with a single click. Quixa executes the test runner in an isolated container and streams colored ANSI terminal output in real time.
* **Failure Traces & Match Diffs**: Inspect JSON schema mismatches and assertion failures with side-by-side diff views.
